Saturday was windy, Sundy was windier, Monday was the windiest!!! I sat watching the sea for a while at the Lifeboat Station, it looked just about do-able, but every now and then a big set came through that had kit and body destroying potential, so as there was no one else around I decided against it and headed to the estuary.

The wind direction wasn't ideal for the estuary as it was coming over the dunes so was pretty gusty. It was a little too southerly to play in the usual speed channel out beyond the shelter of the dunes, so I stayed in the main bay on the Ynyslas side. The winds were around 30 knots on the beach, but with gusts up to 40 knots out by the pint, and lulls of about 20 knots near the shore.... great, 20-40 knots, which sail to use. Well, as I started to rig, all hell broke loose as far as the wind was concerned, so I decided the 3.4m was the order of the day. Once on the water it was horrible, the wind was gusting all over the place, overpowered even with the 3.4m in the gusts, then sinking the next minute in the lulls. Don't think I had one comfortable run and didn't stay out long anyway.
